With permanent ink, clear water, my favorite 000 brush and the best art paper made, I painted “grey scales” for two solid years - that’s black to white in ten steps, white to black in ten steps. A meditation in which every new shade of grey has to be halfway between the last shade and the next unknown shade, is intended to create a smooth transition.
